Fire ravages Gravesend party-planning business
An early morning four-alarm fire gutted a Gravesend party-planning business that has been around for more than 30 years.
Fire officials say flames broke out at around 4:15 a.m. inside a one-story building at 1717 West 6th St. which housed Dalmazio Imports.More than 150 firefighters were called to the scene. It took nearly three hours to control the fire.
The owner, Sandra Dalmazio, says the flames burned dozens of invitations for weddings and other events that she has worked on this week.
"When I got the phone call this morning that my business was on fire, all I could think about was the orders of invitations sitting on my counter," she says.
Dalmazio says she was only able to save one set of invitations that were going out this week because she took them home before the fire.
Although the store has been destroyed, Dalmazio says she plans on making new invitations for her customers. Dalmazio
