The Flatbush Caton Market?s much needed facelift was revealed for the first time Monday.
Responding to earlier complaints about sanitary conditions from food vendors, the city-led renovations included new, enclosed booths for 47 vendors and a new Web site for those who prefer to shop in cyberspace.
Mayor Bloomberg stopped by for the opening and heralded the market for its celebration of Caribbean culture. The mayor has promised to look into whether tour buses can be taken to the market for those interested in shopping for wares.
Meanwhile, vendors say the move from the streets to the enclosed market space has been good for business.
