A community garden in Bed-Stuy will continue growing for residents after being saved from an encroaching affordable housing development.

A total of 34 gardens throughout the city were transferred to the city's Green Thumb Program.

The garden is among one of 26 located in Brooklyn that will be trasfered to the New York City's Parks and Recreation Department. 

The gardens are located on land formerly owned by the the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, but are now a part of the Green Thumb Program with the Department of Parks and Recreations.

The gardens will receive staff and other expertise to make the them stronger.
