Millions of people are expected to travel this Labor Day weekend, but rising gas prices may slow down some drivers.

Experts blame the threat of hurricane damage to the Gulf Coast earlier this week for a higher than normal fuel hike for this time of year. The average price for a gallon of regular gas in New York State is now at $3.83, which is higher than the national average.

Many Bronx residents say they won't let the pain at the pump ruin their weekend plans, and many who are traveling locally will take mass transit.

In a statement, AAA said, "The number of drivers from the Mid-Atlantic region is 3.1 percent higher than last year, reflecting slightly better economic factors like lower unemployment and higher disposable income."
