Gas station locations drying up in Brooklyn, city
Gas stations are slowly disappearing in Brooklyn and the city, according to a New York Times report.
The Times report gathered data from the FDNY. According to that data, approximately 9 percent of gas stations have closed throughout the city in the past 3 ½ years. Brooklyn has seen an 11.5 percent dip in gas stations.
The closures have been brought on, in part, by consolidation among gas companies. According to the Times, real estate brokers have also bought out other stations. One broker said gas stations sit on attractive property, are located on busy street corners and are typically housed on large lots.
