Goats were brought to Prospect Park this weekend to help stop invasive plant species.

Park officials tell News 12 the goats will be chowing down on invasive weeds for the second summer in a row.

They say after Superstorm Sandy took out the bigger trees, more sun reached the forest floor and that sun helped a bunch of invasive plants grow rapidly.

The goats eat the exotic species so that park employees can replant native species, without using harsh chemicals.

Officials say the goats relish eating the invasive species and were so effective last year that only four goats were needed this year.

The goats will be grazing at several spots around the park before heading back to a farm in upstate New York.
