A Bay Ridge couple was seen being forced off a New York City ferry in Brooklyn Bridge Park Saturday night for not wearing masks, Gothamist reports.
The report says the husband and wife stood on the top deck for more than an hour, claiming it was their constitutional right to ride without a mask on and that they both have medical conditions exempting them from Gov. Andrew Cuomo's order.
After arguing with police officers, the couple was seen escorted off in handcuffs. Police say in a statement that they were both given summonses for disorderly conduct.
The woman told Gothamist that she and her husband are currently suing the MTA after getting a similar summons on the subway, and will now probably sue the ferry company.
