Gov. Phil Murphy visited Israeli technology company Airobotics Monday as part of his overseas trip to boost New Jersey’s economy.
The governor previously visited Germany, and then traveled to Israel. He says that the goal is to deepen the economic ties between New Jersey and Israel.
“These are two really simpatico places. New Jersey and Israel share so many common attributes,” Murphy said. “We’re literally the same size. We both have the same number of people. New Jersey’s got the second largest per-capita Jewish population in America.”
Airobotics makes fully automated drones that can take off, fly and land all by themselves without a pilot. The technology can do everything from conduct security sweeps of large industrial sights, to aerial inspections and emergency response.
The company is also expanding to the United States.
Murphy says that his overseas trip is all about convincing Israeli companies like Airobotics that New Jersey is the place to be. He says that this is because of New Jersey’s good schools, infrastructure and location, and because of the state’s highly trained workforce.
Murphy will be meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Tuesday to discuss his ideas further.
"I want to talk to him about exactly what I've been doing all week. How do we deepen the ties between Israel [and New Jersey],” Murphy said.
Murphy will also be visited the Western Wall, the holiest place in all of Judaism.
News 12 New Jersey will be airing its next episode of “Ask Gov. Murphy” Tuesday, Oct. 30 to discuss the trip.
