The commitment to building affordable housing in the Bronx is continuing in Mott Haven.
In about two years, an empty lot in Mott Haven is going to be transformed into a 10-story building promising affordable rent for tenants.

Community builders leading the project partnered with BronxWorks stood alongside city officials to celebrate the ground breaking of what will be “Park Haven” Friday.
The project is part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s 12-year plan to build and maintain affordable apartments across the city.
The complex will consist of 178 units along Saint Ann's Avenue and 144th Street. People will be able to rent studios and up to three-bedroom apartments for families and individuals whose income falls between the 30 through 80% the average household income.
Developers say the brand-new building will have a community garden, outdoor space and other amenities. On top of that, a brand new a grocery store and workforce programs provided by BronxWorks.
Deputy Commissioner Liz Oakley, from the city's Housing Partnership Development Corporation, says the need for housing is crucial and understands the process can be stressful.

News 12 is told the goal of these projects is to help serve more than half a million New Yorkers.
