A New York advocacy group is pushing for increased funding for Brooklyn parks.
New Yorkers for Parks testified before the City Council and the Parks Department Monday and said that New York City is last in per capita funding among large U.S. cities. They added that one-third of underserved parks in New York City are located in Brooklyn.
An official from the Parks Department disputes the figures. He says that local parks thrive when the community takes an interest in preserving them.
