Happy Land memorial walking tour held in West Farms to honor Garifuna Heritage

In celebration of Garifuna Heritage Month, the Bronx County Historical Society and Garifuna Coalition hosted a Happy Land Memorial Garifuna Heritage walking tour.
The tour was held through West Farms to honor Garifuna heritage and also remember the lives lost during the deadly Happy Land fire that happened on March 25, 1990. The fire killed 87 men and women and was found to be an act of arson.
"We want to make sure that even the younger generation is fully aware of what actually took place here," said Samuel Brooks.
The organization says they hope to expand these tours.
