Democrat Pamela Harris and Republican Lucretia Regina-Potter are facing off in the election for the State Assembly in the 46th District. Harris is trying to win office in her first-ever election.

Democrat Pamela Harris and Republican Lucretia Regina-Potter are facing off in the election for the State Assembly in the 46th District.
Harris is trying to win office in her first-ever election.
"This is a first for me, so this one makes it even more important," she says. "It makes me more diligent."
Meanwhile, Regina-Potter says she's relying on her firm community relations to help her get a victory.
Regina-Potter is looking to make history by becoming the first-ever Republican female from Brooklyn to win a State Assembly seat.
Harris, a former corrections officer, says she is committed to changing the status quo.
"Public service is me. I retired as a New York City corrections officer, so care, custody and control has been my motto," she says.
The 46th District includes parts of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Fort Hamilton and Coney Island.
