The holiday weekend is in full effect Friday, even if the Fourth of July isn’t until Tuesday. So that means there are some things drivers should know before hitting the roads this weekend.
AAA says this holiday weekend is set to break a record with nearly 43 million expected to hit the road.
That means you’ll want to think about filling up the tank before starting your journey. GasBuddy says the cheapest stations in the Bronx are the Shell and BP stations on Fordham Road, which both come in at $3.45 a gallon.
AAA says the national average for a gallon was $4.18 this time last year, but that prices have remained steady over the last few months. The national average is now about $3.05.
AAA is also reminding drivers to inspect their vehicles before heading out. They say flat tires and dead batteries are common issues they deal with.
What is the best time to hit the road this weekend? AAA says you’re better off leaving in the morning or after 6 p.m. to avoid congestion.
