Hundreds honor fallen BK National Guardsman

A Brooklyn National Guardsman who died in Afghanistan on July 4 was laid to rest Monday. Hundreds turned out in Midwood to say goodbye to 42-year-old Lt. Daniel Farkas, who friends described as selfless.

A Brooklyn National Guardsman who died in Afghanistan on July 4 was laid to rest Monday. Hundreds turned out in Midwood to say goodbye to 42-year-old Lt. Daniel Farkas, who friends described as selfless. Farkas also served in the 112th Precinct and was awarded for his work in September 11th recovery efforts. During his career, Farkas received many accolades and awards. Upon his death he was honored with an Army Commendation Medal and the New York State Medal for Merit.Department of Defense officials say Farkas? death is still under investigation.
