City teachers rallied outside of Brooklyn Borough Hall on Wednesday to demand a new contract.
Many teachers outside of Brooklyn Borough Hall are specifically saying "no to 3%" - referencing that a 3% pay raise is not enough for them. Hundreds of them arrived directly from the classroom after teaching on Wednesday.
United Federation of Teachers president Michael Mulgrew joined them, saying that the teachers working in the largest school system in America deserve more.
“We need our contract now. And the only way we are going to get that contract is to make noise,” said Mulgrew. “The city knows you cannot turn your back on your teachers.”
UFT rallies were in full swing across all five boroughs on Wednesday.
