Hunts Point residents rallied today to protest the reopening of Club Heat, a strip club they say promotes crime and jeopardizes the safety of their community. The demonstrators cited two violent January incidents and the murder of 33-year-old Monique Rodriguez last year as proof Club Heat should be boarded up permanently. The club was closed last week, when the NYPD and Bronx Supreme Court revoked the club's liquor license and punished the owners for employing unlicensed security guards. The lounge is expected to reopen Saturday. The owners say they have paid all necessary fines and that they will adhere to court orders.
