In honor of Woodstock's 50th anniversary, a group of people came together to recreate the iconic Woodstock bus.

The original Woodstock bus was painted by artist Dr. Bob Hieronimus for a band called Light. When the band got to the gate, the state troopers told them they must go back to the parking lot. The leader of the band, named Bob Grimm, said the bus was for an art show at the festival. The state trooper ended up letting them in. The band took the bus up to Woodstock and placed it squarely in the center of events that became one the most iconic concerts in history.

Three years ago, documentarian John Wesley Chisholm came together with a group of people to help the original artist, Hieronimus, create a replica of the bus to have it complete for its 50th anniversary this year.

Chisholm says in the process of building the bus, the group learned about how projects can bring together people by letting them get away from things that may divide them. He says that this unity is the main theme of the artwork on the bus.
