The icy commute following Tuesday's snowstorm caused havoc on Brooklyn roads and sidewalks Wednesday morning.

In Kensington, a livery cab spun out of control, hit a parked car and knocked down a light post. The driver suffered a broken arm and a few cuts. Later, a minivan skidded at a red light and crashed into a van.

Travel was also treacherous for pedestrians at the intersection of Avenue C and East 2nd Street, where a child heading to school slipped on the ice in the middle of the road. Some people who witnessed the incident stopped the oncoming traffic, and the child escaped without injury.

Following the incident, P.S. 179 Principal Valerie Joseph came outside and acted as a crossing guard until all the students entered the school.

The Department of Sanitation says Avenue C was cleared last night, but it iced over after people cleared off sidewalks, driveways and cars, dumping the snow onto the roadway.
