A school janitor admitted Wednesday to secretly taping students and teachers at two Brooklyn high schools.
Police recently arrested 46-year-old Michael Conte, of Staten Island, for illegally videotaping a female acquaintance on Long Island. Under police questioning, Conte confessed to installing a camera in a women?s bathroom at Westinghouse High School. He also confessed to installing a camera in the girl?s locker room at Brooklyn Technical High School in Fort Greene. Investigators later found hundreds of videotapes, CDs and computer disks with secretly recorded images.
A Department of Education official says Conte has been fired from his position at Westinghouse. Conte has been charged with unlawful surveillance, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
