A kitten who was rescued from a storm drain last month while News 12 cameras were rolling has found a forever home with a new family.
South Brooklyn Cat Rescue has found homes for 179 cats this year, but there's a special story behind the journey of Norton, a 10-month-old tabby.
The kitten was nursed back to health by the rescue in Canarsie for more than a month. His ordeal started back in early August, when a woman heard his cries from inside a storm drain near her home. She called police and News 12 -- and our cameras were rolling as the dramatic rescue was made.
Volunteers at the rescue say Norton was in rough shape when he first came in, but after weeks of care and time in a foster home, he's ready to head to his new home.
He was adopted on Sunday, headed to his forever home with a family on Long Island.
Volunteers say they're thrilled that Norton has been adopted, but they're still working to help dozens of other cats find homes. For more information, call South Brooklyn Cat Rescue at 347-524-2559.
