What started out as a retirement home for wealthy seniors in the 1920s will now become an art exhibition hall and bed and breakfast on the Grand Concourse.
The Mid-Bronx Senior Citizen's Council, who owns the landmarked Andrew Freeman House, has joined with several groups to turn part of the house into an art exhibit.
The home will showcase 29 local and international painters, sculptors and even graffiti artists who will transform 20 of the former bedrooms into works of art.
A portion of the house will also be used as a bed and breakfast for tourists.
Owners said that their longterm plan is to remake the home as a job training center.
The building already houses a Head Start program and day care center in the basement.
