With the flu epidemic still on the rise nationwide, News 12 spoke with a physician who offered some tips on how to avoid getting sick.
Dr. Roxanne Carfora, of Ageless 360 Medical Group, says to check your vitamin D levels.
"Vitamin D protects you against the H1N1 virus, which is the flu. Check your level and make sure it's above 50," she said.
She also recommends using antibacterial wipes in the workplace in spaces that are shared – such as computer keyboards, phones, door handles and light switches.
It's also not too late to get a flu shot.
The Nassau Health Department is reporting that it has seen as many as 350 new flu cases in just one week.
