Family and friends gathered to remember a longtime community board chairperson with a special dedication ceremony at New York City Health + Hospital Lincoln.

Georgie Rodriguez served on Community Board 1 until he died in 2019.

His family says they hope the dedication will inspire future generations to carry on Rodriguez’s legacy.

Georgia Rodriguez’s grandson, Michael Rodriguez, thanked the hospital for support him and getting the opportunity to honor his grandfather.

“Back to this work that he did, I think it’s very important that the community know what he fought for and that the next generation can pick up the mountain,” Michael Rodriguez says. “And understand that doesn’t stop the previous generation, we keep fighting for everything that’s been getting.”
