Family members of an 88-year-old grandmother said goodbye Saturday to their loved one who died after an apartment fire earlier this month.
Albertine Ettienne was asleep when the fire broke out in her New York Ave apartment building on May 4. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition due to smoke inhalation and died two days later. Albertina Ettienne was just two weeks shy of her 89th birthday.
Her daughters say she was a healthy lady with much more life left to live.
Ettienne is survived by seven children, 30 grand- and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Among them is a member of the NYPD.
