A man was struck by a car Thursday while trying to cross Atlantic Avenue.
The incident happened after 8 p.m. at Atlantic and Norwood avenues in East New York. Police say the male victim was trying to cross from the median and was hit by a red sedan.
The victim was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition.
Traffic on the street was being directed around the scene, causing a minor backup.
Police say the driver stayed at the scene and will likely not be charged.
