Brooklyn residents enthusiastically cheered and encouraged runners taking part in the 39th Annual New York City Marathon Sunday.
Lining the borough's streets, throngs of locals came out to high-five runners. Many said that while street closures were a hindrance, it was well worth it to witness the race, which drew more than 2 million fans cheering on over 38,000 runners.
Also on hand were 120 live bands and assorted oddball acts along a boisterous, five-borough course.
Organizers provided plenty of hydration along the marathon route, including more than 63,000 bottles of water and 32,000 gallons of Gatorade. Dozens of medical stations were stocked with assorted supplies, including 11,410 pounds of ice.
