Well, have you tried this yet? The fastest growing sport in the US? Yeah, we're talking about pickle ball, of course, it's gaining in popularity but doctors are also seeing more and more pickle ball related injury. So here's what you can do to protect yourself. Yeah, for Robin Murray, pickle ball isn't just a sport. It's a way for this retiree to stay social. You had to run around and hit the ball and play with people, but the game has taken a toll on her body. She says her first pickle ball injury to her foot was a result of playing too much. I would play every day and it's so addictive that people just play until they're ready to drop. She says later she tore a meniscus in her knee and then had tendinitis and a bicep from playing so much pickleball. Doctors say the sport is a great way to stay active but it's not without some risk in the US this year. Analysts estimate there will be around 67,000 emergency room visits, 366 6000 outpatient visits and 9000 outpatient surgeries related to pickleball injuries in a daily basis. We see a couple of people that are getting injuring people. Doctor Louis Gunda with Orlando health says most of his pickleball injured patients are seniors to help protect against getting hurt. He says use proper equipment, make sure you and the sport and strengthen your lower body and core really can help with balance and coordination. Always has fun but always with moderation. Murray is getting regular knee gel injections and wears a brace but is still able to play the game. She loves about twice a week. It took me a while to learn the hard way that when you love something, you can't go all out full force the whole time.

Time. Now for fitness and four, now we all know stretching should be part of your workouts. So we headed to Lifetime to learn three moves that you can do. So you're ready to hit the gym again. Tomorrow, part of your workout plan should include really stretching your body, recovering from all that exertion that you just did. So we came here to learn some of those moves. We're here at Lifetime. So Michael talk me through what we're going to do first. So today, first, what we're going to do is we're going to get down to the ground. I gave you some towels as a roll up. So you could use a pillow towels, whatever works for you. We'll put these to the side for now and that's going to support my neck and I want to support your head so that when you lay down, you go down, you're not like this, right? So for you put your arm right in front just like. So if you look at me, I want you to take your other free hand and push it down toward your body. So actually bring your elbow up a little bit more toward the towel. There you go. So I want my elbow and my shoulder in a straight line. You got it. Now, bend that elbow a little closer to your body and push down gently. Now, you should right away. Feel a little bit of a discomfort immediately. So it's a little bit of a burning sensation. But if it's too much back away with the hand up and now who would this be good for? This is good for anybody that either runs or pushes weights forward backward up over their head. This is a stretch to actually rotate your shoulder without rotation. The shoulder doesn't work properly. And you think about all those people playing pickle ball right now, this is probably good for them too. This is good for a tennis pickle ball, a sport where you have rotation. Um Really anything that a person does, this is good for you. So second stretch again, take a pillow, take a pad, whatever you have, pick either leg you want, put one down, put one in front. Now, a common thing that a lot of people do is they shift their body forward. This isn't wrong. It's not the stretch that I would look for. For most people. I want you to sit up tall straight line and I want you to squeeze your under you. So get that pelvis, get your butt under you and then also bring down your abdominals a little bit. You should immediately feel something right here on the front. If you go to release that, I like to show people how to not do it properly as well. It goes away. Yes. Bring it back down and it's right there. I would hold this. So stretching is interesting. Everyone says stretch for a minute, stretch for two minutes, stretch for three minutes. I want you to stretch until it actually relaxes. Ok. That could be five minutes. So give yourself some time, put on the TV, and just hang out in this position to really actually what I tell all my clients at night is when they're sitting on the couch watching TV. Right? Just hang out and do this, hang out and be in this position. All right. So we have one more for everybody at home and this is more of a full body. Yes. So now we can put it all together. So we did upper, we're, we did lower. We can do full. So you lay down on that same pillow, the same towel roll, whatever you have, you're gonna bring your legs together and now put your hands together and always watch your thumb when you open up. So notice when you go all the way back, the lower body wants to come with. You don't let it. So here it come back toward me. Follow your thumb with your head. So come back around. Turn. Yeah. So turn with it. I want you to see how far you actually go and don't go any further than it lets you.
