Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Monday that the city's public high school graduation rate is at an all-time high.
The mayor said that 65.5 percent of students finished studies and received their diplomas in four years last August. The number of students graduating in their fifth or sixth years has also risen.
United Federation of Teachers (UFT) officials disagree with the progress, calling attention to a Department of Education (DOE) report that shows graduation dipped slightly in 2010. They say the rate is more or less flat.
Bloomberg also agreed that city schools still have a long way to go when compared to other education statistics.
