Mayor Michael Bloomberg was in The Bronx today to unveil new green, affordable housing for the borough.
The new complex, known as Via Verde, is located on Brook Avenue. The housing complex will offer a new way of living for low income Bronx families.
Officials say residents will be able to grow their own fresh fruits and vegetables on the site. The housing complex also includes solar panels to help save on energy costs and will use recycled rainwater to irrigate the 40,000-square feet of open space included on the property.
The $99-million development offers 150 rental units and 71 co-op units.
