Mayor Eric Adams told New Yorkers on Tuesday that the city is making progress in the war on rats.
"We realized that not only are rodents unsightly, but there are real health-related problems," said Mayor Adams. "Rat complaints have fallen, but we still have too many plastic bags on our streets."
Adams emphasized the recent push to ensure that all garbage is put into containers and that it has directly helped the city's efforts to reduce the rat population.
