Students of Medgar Evers College say the New York Post should go out of business for a controversial editorial cartoon published in the newspaper.

Earlier this week, the Post apologized to anyone who might have been offended by an image printed Wednesday, which some say likens President Barack Obama to a violent chimpanzee gunned down by police in Connecticut.

The student protesters say a long and hurtful past in which African-Americans have been depicted in a derogatory way wasn?t funny then and isn?t funny now.

?It?s from the Jim Crow days, when we couldn't go to school, it meant lynchings,? says one student.

The students are calling for a boycott of the New York Post, its advertisers and want the newspaper?s editor and cartoonist fired. They are also calling for a boycott of the social-networking Web site MySpace, which like the New York Post is owned by News Corp.
