The MTA is proposing to go green and charge a fee every time straphangers purchase a new MetroCard.
In the 2013 budget proposal, the transit authority plans to charge a $1 fee for new cards.
The MTA hopes it will cut down on the amount of littered MetroCards and add an extra $2 million to the budget.
