A new legislation will raise the minimum wage from $11 to $13 dollars an hour in New York.

Under this new legislation, businesses in New York City with 10 employees or less will pay $12 dollars an hour.

Minimum raise increased to $13 an hour for companies with 11 or more employees and $13.50 for fast food workers.

This change is part of the plan to raise the state-wide minimum hourly pay to $15 by 2019.

Another change to add this year will be the launch of paid family leave.

The new NYS program will allow workers to take paid time off to care for a newborn baby for an ill family member.

Employees can now take up to eight weeks off and earn up to 50 percent of their average weekly up to $625.

By 2021, employees will be able to take up to 12 weeks of paid family leave for up to two-thirds of their weekly wage.

The state’s paid family leave plan is being paid for by a payroll tax deduction.
