A misspelled street sign in Bedford-Stuyvesant is catching people in the area off-guard.
The street known as Lafayette Avenue has a sign that reads "Layfayette Avenue."
Many neighbors in the area say they didn't notice the mistake until News 12 brought it to their attention.
One resident says he thought the mistake was intentional.
"It's been that way for some time," says Reggie Smith. "I thought that's how they pronounced it."
News 12 has reached out to the New York City Department of Transportation to find out when the sign will be fixed.
