An investigation has begun after a Brownsville mother says her child was dragged from his desk and into a hallway at school.
Britney Graham says the incident involving her 7-year-old occurred on Oct. 1 at Riverdale Avenue Community School. She claims her son Kashmire was dragged by his clothing out of a classroom in front of other students.
Graham says she contacted the school about the incident, but felt the claims were brushed off. She says she met with the teacher who allegedly dragged Kashmire, and that the teacher admitted to the incident.
A lawyer filed a claim against the city for what they call negligence, carelessness and recklessness, according to Graham.
A spokesperson for the Department of Education said in a statement, "We take these allegations seriously, and this matter was unsubstantiated after a thorough investigation. Riverdale Avenue Community School has a strong culture of trust amongst teachers, administrators and parents. We'll review the lawsuit."
The NYPD also says the matter is being reviewed by the Brooklyn Child Abuse Squad.
Since the alleged incident, Graham says she moved both of her sons to a different school.
Graham said she had no problems with the school in the past, even saying she loved it before the alleged incident.
