The MTA held another public meeting on coming closures of the M and L subway lines.

The MTA says it knows people are upset about the shutdowns, but it wants to explain to commuters how badly damaged the train lines are and why repairs can't be pushed off any longer.

This is the fourth public meeting the MTA is holding in locations along the two subway lines.

The MTA put up posters showing the mess Superstorm Sandy made on the L train line tunnels and how the M line is aging and crumbling. The agency says the trains are still safe to ride but that for the long run repairs need to be made soon.

The M line will be down in two phases starting in the summer of 2017.

The L train closures will start sometime in 2019. The MTA will make a decision on whether it will be a full or partial closure by the end of the summer.
