The MTA has revealed its Bronx bus route redesign proposal, with some major changes for the borough's busiest routes.
The MTA had reached out to commuters over the past few months seeking the answer about how it would make bus service better in the Bronx.
The proposed solution is a four-point plan that involves designing a network with easy connections, streamlining bus routes to make them more direct, minimizing the number of turns buses have to make, and improving vital areas essential for intra-borough travel.
One of the many routes that could see changes is the BX11 in Highbridge. Instead of heading to West Farms Road, the BX11 will now go to Parkchester, improving crosstown service and connecting with the subway stop there. The hope is that it will increase bus frequency by two minutes a day.

Another route change is for City Island where the BX29 has had issues due to stopping at the Mall at Bay Plaza.  Under the new plan, it would stop at the Pelham Bay Park station as well as eliminate eight stops along the existing route. Overnight service will be introduced as well.

There are significant changes proposed to nearly every bus route in the borough.
Open houses will be held this month to explain how and why these decisions were made.  The first ones will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday.
