A heartbreaking moment Tuesday night as the family of a man who was shot and killed in Fort Greene last month -- saw the man accused of the slaying for the first time.
The family of 25-year-old Jo’Heem Hamilton confronted 50-year-old Earl Morgan for the first time as he was walking out of the 88th Precinct.
This comes after he was arrested for the May 30 shooting that happened at the Ingersoll Houses.
News 12 it all started over a verbal dispute around 3 a.m. and that two people were shot. Hamilton’s mother says he had just finished work at Shake Shack.
Hamilton’s mother tells News 12 her son was a source of pride for them.
"My son is an amazing person, you can't just take someone's life, like that, that is doing well in their life and that's loved,” said Hamilton’s mother.
Hamilton is survived by an infant daughter and his girlfriend, Scy.
She says knowing that a part of him lives on helps her get through the pain. "I'm happy that his daughter is here and she is going to live on through him and bring me joy and continue his legacy,” said Scy.
Hamilton’s little sister, Attoria, says losing her brother to gun violence is like a nightmare that won’t end, but seeing the man accused of the crime--brings them solace.
Police say Morgan faces several charges, including murder in the second degree, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
