Merchants on Myrtle Avenue hung artwork in their storefront windows to commemorate Black History Month.

The fourth annual "Black Artstory Month," sponsored by the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership, runs through Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

Twelve window murals and art installations can be seen inside and outside of participating businesses between Flatbush Avenue Extension and Classon Avenue.

This year's pieces, created by artists from New York City, depict the Black Lives Matter movement, police brutality and racially motivated hate crimes. Another piece, called "Freedom Band," shows leaders of the civil rights movement.

The event includes free performances, group talks and film screenings. Residents can pick up a map and embark on their own walking tour of the displays.
