Councilman Joel Rivera has allocated money to help clean the dog dirt problem in Van Nest.

Rivera has allocated money to the Van Nest Neighborhood Alliance for more doggie stations with free bags at the cost of $300 to $500 per station. The stations are expected to go up along Van Nest and Hunt avenues.

Signs will also be posted to remind pet owners that they can be fined if they fail to curb their pooches.

The fines start at $250. Last year, the Department of Sanitation gave out 146 tickets for dog waste.
