A group of Brooklyn kids got a special visit Monday from Nelson Mandela's grandson in honor of Black History Month.
Ndaba Mandela spoke to the Brooklyn United marching band about its members' African roots. He also shared his grandfather's struggle for equal rights under apartheid in South Africa.
Mandela himself grew up in a ghetto while his grandfather was in jail. He wanted the band members to know that even if they're struggling, they should never feel inferior.
Mandela says he hopes to create a similar program in South Africa and have the Brooklyn kids visit one day.
