New Jersey pushing tax and budget deadlines later because of virus
(AP) - Gov. Phil Murphy and legislative leaders say New Jersey's income tax deadline will move from April 15 to July 15 and the state budget deadline will move from June 30 to September 30 in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin say they will move any necessary legislation and supplemental appropriations to get the state through the rest of the fiscal year. All three men are Democrats.

Gov. Phil Murphy and state officials discuss the latest updates on the coronavirus crisis in New Jersey.
The statewide total number of coronavirus cases in New Jersey now stands at 22,255 cases, after Gov. Phil Murphy just announced 3,649 new cases. The governor also announced 91 additional deaths, bringing the statewide death toll to 355.

- One of the people who died from the virus was Janice Preschel of Teaneck. Janice was the founder of the Helping Hands Food Pantry.
 - Gov. Murphy once again reiterates the importance of social distancing practices to "flatten the curve."
 - New Jersey has received 850 additional ventilators from the federal government. Gov. Murphy is asking for more, along with more PPE.
- The Bergen Community College drive-through testing site will be open Thursday starting at 8 a.m. The PNC Arts Center site will be closed.
 - The deadline for filing state income taxes in New Jersey has been extended to July 15.
 - Additionally, Gov. Murphy and state legislators have come to an agreement to extend the current state fiscal year until Sept. 30.
 - Gov. Murphy has signed an executive order to allow for additional health care workers.
- The deadline for college students to apply for financial aid has been extended from April 15 to June 1.
 - The governor says applications for the Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program will open at 9 a.m. on April 3.
 - The New Jersey Devils and its owners are making a donation to RWJ Barnabas to help them purchase PPE
 - First Energy Corp is making a "significant contribution" to area food banks.
 - Gov. Murphy will visit the Meadowlands Convention Center FEMA field hospital on Thursday.
 - Gov. Murphy reminds all New Jerseyans to complete their census forms.
 - State Police Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan discusses social distancing compliance issues.
