New security cameras installed at NYCHA housing complex
Thirty new security cameras have been installed at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Bayview Housing Complex, with additional security features to be added at other complexes across the city.
Residents at the Bayview houses say they've been asking for security cameras for five years and are hoping every building at Bayview eventually receives them.
The cameras were paid for by NYCHA after $350,000 in funding was secured by state Sen. John Sampson (D-Crown Heights) and Assemblyman Alan Maisel (D-Canarsie, Mill Basin).
NYCHA chairman John Rhea says the City Council has set aside $50 million for additional security improvements at 85 developments throughout the city by the end of 2013.
