New tech training facility opens in Williamsburg
Tuesday marked the grand opening of a new tech training facility in Brooklyn aimed at helping residents find future careers.
The first Per Scholas classrooms opened in the old Pfizer factory in Williamsburg.
More than 50 percent of the school's new students hail from Brooklyn.
The Workforce Development Organization, which started in the Bronx, offers tuition-free training at the classrooms for tech careers, including a new cybersecurity track.
As part of the new track, 20 students will learn how to track and guard against cyberattacks as they play out in real time.
Lead sponsor Barclays is offering a six-month cybersecurity internship for 10 graduates.
