As New York City libraries face budget cuts, a Brooklyn resident is trying to help Brooklyn Public Library with a race day.
Peter Goldwasser is a runner and library lover, so he figured to raise $50,000 for the BPL, he'd merge the two. He's looking for 62 runners to raise $800 each.
Runners have their choice in how many miles they run with two different races.
"Both will start at the Greenpoint branch which is the northern most branch. One will go all the way down to Coney Island so about 13.5 miles, and the other will go to Grand Army Plaza, about 5.5 miles," said Goldwasser.
Race day is May 11.
