The New York Attorney General listened to hours of testimonies Wednesday and is investigating actions by police during recent protests. 

"It was horrifying how the NYPD aggressively physically cleared the park screaming and swinging batons at a group that had been entirely peaceful. I, myself was slammed on the pavement by an officer while attempting to record other protesters being beaten on the ground,” said Attorney General Letitia James. 

One person described how they were targeted for filming officers and another shared how they saw a journalist get pushed. 

A woman in Brooklyn was pushed to the ground by a police officer and went into a seizure. She asked James why good police officers didn’t help her in a time of need. 

The Police Benevolent Association released a statement saying, ”We need a comprehensive analysis, not just of individual incidents, but of the entire environment in which the protests and police response occurred. We hope Attorney General James will carefully consider the perspective of police officers on the street as she undertakes that review.” 

Testimony is expected to continue on Thursday. When it wraps up, James will look into the claims and make a recommendation to the governor, who appointed her to investigate the actions between police and members of the community.
