A new report from the New York state comptroller reveals that Brooklyn is proving to be one of the city's strongest economic engines.
Thomas DiNapoli stopped by the Brooklyn Brewery today to release a new snapshot of the county's economy. The report shows that Brooklyn expanded at a faster rate than the rest of the city from 2003 to 2012, adding more jobs and businesses.
Private sector jobs in the borough grew almost 20 percent, according to the report, marking the highest level on record. The number of manufacturing jobs also rose for the first time in decades, to almost 20,000 jobs.
The exact numbers for 2013 are not available just yet, but Comptroller DiNapoli says all signs point to an overall job rate growth.
