A new study has found that eating healthy in the Bronx can prove to be difficult.
The study conducted by the Department of Health examined one section of the Bronx and found that healthy food choices were hard to find. The report showed that 65 percent of the food options in that section were either fast food or corner bodegas. It also found that only 4 percent of locations specialized in fresh produce choices.
City officials say there are too many places with high-calorie, high-sugar food selections. They say that is at the center of the widespread child and adult obesity issues.
Doctors urge Bronx residents to prepare food at home so that they can not only stay healthy, but also save money.
