NYC Health + Hospitals recognized 30 nurses across the five boroughs for their efforts and excellence in nursing during the coronavirus pandemic.
The recognition is part of NYC Health + Hospital’s annual Nursing Excellence Awards celebration.
Nurse Megan Leyesa has worked at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island for the past six years.
She says the last year was unprecedented. “This year was very different because we pretty much were working day-to-day and we didn't know what was coming through the door, each day,” said Leyesa.
Chief Nurse Opal Sinclair-Chung of NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County said she was filled with joy after one of her nurses, Shantie Jagnarine, was recognized.
“She is the forerunner in many of our initiatives that we've initiated in our dialysis unit, a great partner, a great team member, a compassionate nurse and an amazing advocate for patient care,” said Chief Sinclair-Chung.
