A therapist and sex educator from Brooklyn has taken it upon herself during the pandemic to offer virtual sex education.
Rachel Wright has launched a new workshop series "What You Wish You Learned in School: Sex Education."
"Schools do not teach comprehensive sex education," said Wright. "There are only nine states out of the 50 that require consent to be taught in sex ed. We are so far behind."
The first workshop is Sex Ed 101: The Basics.
Wright is teaching everything from gender and anatomy, to body positivity and open relationships. She says the feedback couldn't be better.
Wright says she received an email from someone who said they were able to have a conversation with their transgender neighbor because they now have the language.
She also opens up about her personal life and her ethical non-monogamous relationship with her husband.
"We found two other people that also happened to be married that we are dating together. So she is my girlfriend, he is my boyfriend and then she is my husband's girlfriend as well," Wright said.
Wright says she's sharing her experiences and put together this series to make a difference.
The workshops are live each week and those who register receive a copy of the recording.
